Bello Shagari, Entreprenuer. Documentarian, Youth Leader & Advocate.

 

Muhammad Bello Bala Shagari popularly known as Bello Shagari, is a youth leader, an entrepreneur and the founder of Barcode Multimedia and Goverati Ltd, a consultancy. He is the grandson of Nigeria's First Executive President H.E Alhaji Shehu Shagari, GCFR.

He has led multiple youth organizations in Nigeria. He is a speaker and an advocate for youth and entrepreneurship. He was appointed the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Sokoto State Chapter and launched RRTE to curb crime and illegal use of drugs and community violence, and to help create jobs through youth empowerment.

 

He later picked a ticket and was elected as the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), which is the umbrella body of all youth organizations in Nigeria and the largest youth organization in Africa. At the 3rd General Afro-Arab Youth Conference held in Khartoum, Sudan, Bello was elected as the Coordinator of the Afro-Arab Youth Council for West Africa. During his youth presidency, he received multiple awards including induction into Crans Montana “New Leaders of Tomorrow” in Dakhla Morocco. He has served in multiple committees in the Pan African Youth Union (PYU) and has led the Nigerian Youth delegation to different International fora. However, due to a persistent crisis in the NYCN, Bello resigned in a gesture of peace and was shortly appointed as the pioneer Managing Director of the Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF) by His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye  Enitan Ogwunsi Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife.

Northwidstanding, Bello founded Goverati Ltd. and started Consultancy in Nigeria which is involved in facilitating government contracts and investments into Nigeria. 

In Politics

Bello declared his interest in the 2021 Chairmanship of the Abuja Municipal Council Area (AMAC) Elections under the banner of the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC), which was his prelude to his partisanship. However, as a result of a party consensus, he stepped aside just a day to the party primaries. He remains an active member of the APC.

Background

 

Bello is a graduate of Business Information Systems & Information Technology from Middlesex University London. Shortly after his graduation in 2012, he voluntarily taught as a teacher in primary and secondary schools at his hometown Shagari. Soon after, he founded Barcode Multimedia Ltd. single-handedly with a profit he made off his first documentary proposal. The company provides ranging multimedia and IT related services and consultancy especially on P.R, photography, video production, IT solutions, graphic design, printing, and hardware supply.

 

Consequently, he became very much involved in documentary production, especially in the aspects of politics, history and advocacy. Hence, produced, directed and edited a number of videos and documentaries. Although many of them are still in the works. One of such documentaries is a multi-million naira project which began in 2013 named "One Nation, One Destiny", a documentary of the history of Nigeria focusing on President Shehu Shagari's long experiences since pre-independence to his eventual emergence as Nigeria's first executive president in 1979.

 

Accordingly, in the course of research and interviews, Bello has come across a number of prominent politicians, diplomats, historians and many leaders. Some of his encounters include the past and present Nigeria Heads of State such as Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Muhammadu Buhari, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Gen Abudulsalami Abubakar and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

 

Additionally, he had the opportunity of interviewing the likes of Prof. Jean Herskovits, a renown historian of the State University of New York, U.S Ambassador and respected diplomat Thomas Pickering, Mr. Clifford D. May, a former New York Times reporter and  The President of Foundation for Defense of Democracy (FDD)  among others.

 

Bello plays horse polo and basketball. He is also a fan of video games.
